Nike Challenges You To "Go To Extra Smile"
You may mistake the Nike Swoosh for a grin if you bend your head slightly and squint extremely hard. It was an uncomfortable, perplexed grin, but it was a smile nevertheless.
Nothing beats spreading a little happiness, and Nike has done just that with their "Have A Nike Day" tagline over the years. Sean Wotherspoon's hybrid Air Max 97/1 was built around the branding notion — the slogan was emblazoned on t-shirts, marketing images, and the famous Swoosh smiley was spotted on the sneaker's insole.
After a successful run over the years, Nike has chosen to retire the idea and replace it with "Go The Extra Smile," a new age of optimism. Given Nike's constant presence on the global stage, it's a natural fit.
A two-piece presentation, led by the Air Max 90, Air Huarache, and Air Force 1, brings the optimistic message to life. With three of the brand's most famous shapes at the center of this release, it's only natural to put them first.
Nike's Air Force 1 features a clean design that keeps the shoe's original white leather foundation while adding black embellishments. In a bronze thread that complements the gum-colored sole, a triple stack of happy faces sits towards the heel.
The Air Huarache is similarly clothed in black and white, with yellow and red accents on the heel and lining. The happy face symbol is larger this time on the tongue.
Finishing the pack is a brightly colored Air Max 90, dressed in yellow suede and leather. Black and white accents frame the colorful midsection, with a single smiley-face sitting above the Swoosh and the new slogan adorning the laces.
