The "Certified Lover Boy" Drake x Nike Air Force 1 Collaboration Has Been Canceled
The Drake x Nike Air Force 1 "Certified Lover Boy" was said to be in the works last summer. Our sources tell us that the much-anticipated collaboration, which was supposed to appear alongside his album of the same name, has been unfortunately shelved - and here's everything we know so far.
The CLB-inspired Air Force 1 includes a full leather construction that's as premium as it gets, and bears a striking resemblance to the original "Triple White" colorway. While it may not appear to be much different from the original, closer inspection reveals a few intriguing elements unique to the 6 God's collaboration.
The customary "AIR" marking on the Nike Air midsole has been changed with a cursive typeface reading "Love You Forever." The stars on the outsole have also been eliminated, and a sequence of tiny, circular hearts have taken their place. While this device may appear to be charming, it appears to be the main reason for the AF1's cancellation.
Insiders such as @sneakerhistory and @sockjig believe that the hearts were simply too difficult to mass make. While the Beaverton company searches for a viable solution, it appears that the long-awaited Drake x Nike Air Force 1 "Certified Lover Boy" will not be released anytime soon.
