Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Obsidian
-
Materials:
These have some of the greatest
leather we've seen on Jordan 1s in a long time. Indeed, the leather on these
reminds me of the Pine Green Jordan 1s that were introduced last year.
The suppleness of the leather stood
out the most. The sensation matched the tumbling texture, but other pairs (for
example, "Rookie of the Year Jordan 1") appear soft yet felt rigid
and unnatural in the hand.
However, one thing to keep in mind
is the variability of the materials from shoe to shoe.
They were all made of high-quality
leather that looked and felt nice, yet they were all significantly different.
- Construction:
My pairs were all flawlessly built.
The stitching was all tight, and the form of the toe box remained similar
throughout.
I expect these sneakers to wear
nicely and endure almost everything I throw at them over time. Overall, I'm
impressed with the durability of my Jordan 1s.
- Fit & Comfort:
Most people wear Air Jordan 1s
"true to size," but I always go down half a size. This is because I
prefer a snug fit that reduces creases at the toe.
Those with wider feet should wear
their regular size. If you prefer a more snug fit, drop down a half size. If
you're not sure what size would be perfect for you, go to your local shoe store
and ask to try on a pair of Retro High OG.
- Cushioning:
I've said it before, and I'll say it
again.... A shoe that hasn't been modified since 1985 can't be expected to
provide much cushioning. Fortunately, Jordan Brand intends to enhance the
cushioning in 2020, but this sneaker will not blow you away.
That being said, the shoe's midsole
isn't bad, but it's also not the best. They're fantastic for dressing up, but
not for running a 5k.
- Style & value:
Something about the way the sail
contrasts with the navy makes this shoe look attractive on the foot.
When compared to the Blue Chill
Jordan 1s that were introduced earlier in the year, the minimum quantity of
"UNC Blue" on the shoe aids improves the shoe's wearability.
I'm sure most folks have lots of
clothes in their wardrobe that would look great with these shoes. Light-blue
denim, a sport-grey sweatshirt, and a navy hat would be ideal for a casual-cool
appearance during the cooler months of the year.
