Neighborhood X Adidas Originals Make The Superstar 80s Look Better Than Ever
Consider this: what are the most well-known sneakers of all time? We'll all have our own opinions, but the Air Jordan 1, Converse Chuck Taylor All Star, Puma Suedes, and Three Stripes' shell-toed Superstar are all likely candidates. These silhouettes have stayed mostly unchanged and ever-popular, demonstrating their timeless quality.
The Superstar, as its name suggests, has served as a frontman for adidas over the years, becoming a generational subcultural icon. Much of this long-standing devotion may be attributed to the shoe's close ties to hip-hop, thanks to Run-D.M.C. and several recent collaborations with BAPE and Pharrell.
Collaborations have been crucial in keeping the shoes relevant in today's world, and NEIGHBORHOOD has demonstrated a special fondness for the shape. In 2015, Three Stripes released a NEIGHBORHOOD Superstar to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Consortium, and the partnership has since been incorporated into numerous more adidas models.
For the newest collaboration between the two, the Superstar 80 is back in the spotlight, with a new twist on the typical white leather makeup. The remix has suede uppers with leather overlays, as well as hefty zip units at the tongue and zigzag stitching for a militaristic look.
The NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas Originals Superstar 80 comes in a monochromatic black and white finish, similar to previous editions, but this time with a subtle military green accent.
