Nike x Sacai Blazer Low “British Tan”

Looks:

To begin with, the Nike x Sacai Blazer Low has a lot going on. The upper is a cross between a blazer high and a Dunk High, I believe.

On the toebox and around the side of the shoe, there is a brown suede foundation. A Nike Blazer Low provided the red panels, the longer swoosh, and the eyelet panels. Smooth brown Dunk panels continue on top of those panels in the same places.

This isn't the end of the doubling up. The shoe has two tongues, however the red nylon bottom tongue is only approximately a third of the length of the brown suede top tongue. The brown and red laces, which come in various weaves, are crisscrossed on top of them. Round white laces are also included with the sneakers.

Another immediately obvious aspect of these shoes is that they resemble a blazer high with the top few inches chopped off. Raw foam surrounds the collar. I understand that this is a matter of personal taste, but this is by far my least favorite feature of the sneaker. The exposed raw edge makes your ankles seem very thin, like they're from a mid-2000s cartoon.

The whole inner of the shoe is covered in a white, loose-knit cloth. The black Nike and Sacai emblems are the only ones that stand out.

It takes some time to fully comprehend what is happening on here, just as it does in the upper. This shoe's midsole takes the iconic foxing tape appearance and amps it up a notch.

The shoe's midsole is made up of no fewer than ten distinct rubber pieces. Each of them is almost twice as thick as regular foxing tape and has a strong design on top.

Fit & Comfort:

The Nike x Sacai Blazer Low, as odd as it appears, is actually a rather simple shoe to fit - just like any other Blazer low. Even for Nike, this means long and thin. I am a size 11.75 brannock and wear a size 13, however I can just just fit in width and there is a lot of room in the front of the shoe. For reference, I wear a 13 in the Jordan 1, a 12.5 in the Stan Smith, and a 13 in the Ultraboost.

Furthermore, because to the additional rubber around the shoe's rim, these are unlikely to expand. They won't fit if they don't fit right out of the box.

You may stop here if you're seeking for a comfy sneaker. This isn't the case with the Nike x Sacai Blazer Low. However, the shoe on which this is based was released four decades ago. This shouldn't come as a surprise.

The shoe is firm underfoot. It doesn't have much cushioning at all. If you've never tried on a blazer before, it looks quite similar to a pair of Vans. This also implies that there isn't any arch support. I can't fathom playing a whole game with these shoes.

Materials & Construction:

When it comes to the materials utilized by Nike, the Nike x Sacai Blazer is a mixed bag. There are a couple of elements that really stand out - the brown leather on the eyelets is excellent, and the exposed foam is the finest I've ever seen on a pair of Nikes. At the same time, there's some genuinely terrible things in here, like imitation leather swooshes that would make a Stacy Adams sneaker seem nice.

The crimson swoosh stands out in particular. They didn't even bother dyeing the panel's edge, leaving a white felt outline.

Aside from that, the shoe is exactly what you'd anticipate. The suede is more than enough for a shoe at this price range, and the rubber on the mid and outsole should endure for a long time.

This shoe is made of vulcanized rubber with foxing tape. We explain what it means here, but in brief, the outsole of these shoes is made by gluing a firm piece of rubber to the top with rubber tape.

This kind of building has been around for quite some time. It has a nice feel to it and is easy to make, although it tends to break down quickly. The top separating from the tape at the bend point or the outsole splitting at the heel are the two most common failure locations. The Nike x Sacai Blazer Low appears to be particularly prone to this, with reports claiming that it can occur in as few as 20 wears.

Ease Of Care:

The Nike x Sacai Blazer Low's maintenance will mostly focus on keeping the suede clean and preventing the upper from splitting.

When it comes to the suede, I recommend spraying it with suede protectant before wearing it for the first time. Stains will be kept to a minimum as a result of this. Protected shoes will be much easier to clean with a suede cleaner if they do get something spilled on them.
