Nike's 'Shimmer' Dunk Is A Perfect Sneaker For Those Who Addict To Glitter
Nike is set to release the most
gleaming Dunk Low since Cactus Plant Flea Market decked out its pairs in
Swarovski crystals.
The overlays of the sneaker are
rendered in shiny silver leather with a cracked treatment to provide even more
sparkle in the next "Shimmer" edition. The unique materials continue
with the white panels that form the shoe's base, which is constructed of mesh
rather than leather. This choice emphasizes the shining silver, while the other
colors may appease notoriously raucous NFL fans.
The Oakland Raiders-inspired color
scheme is completed by black highlights and a non-metallic grey outsole.
Finally, there's a Dunk Low that Raiders fans in makeup can wear on Sunday and
more refined costume-wearers may wear on Friday and Saturday nights.
Nike has previously used cracked
leather with the goal of wearing away and revealing a different color or
pattern beneath, and hints of black can already be spotted beneath the silver
leather on this next Dunk. It is unclear whether this is the primary feature or
a side effect, as Nike has only provided images of the sneaker thus far.
Given the amount of flare, the
“Shimmer” Dunk could be one of the silhouette's most popular in-house releases
this year. It can be seen as a delayed consolation prize for those who missed
out on the CPFM Dunk late last year, or as a stunning solo effort worthy of
attention on its own.
In any case, the “Shimmer” Dunk will
set you back $110 and will be available before the end of the year.
