The Air Jordan 36 Will Be Released On August 19th

The Air Jordan 36 was first teased by German-American hooper Isatou “Satou” Sabally in early March, only to make its on-court debut on March 25th, courtesy of Jayson Tatum. Originally slated for a September release to coincide with the start of the 2021-2022 NBA season, the latest offering in Michael Jordan's signature sneaker series has been listed as arriving as early as August 19th by select North American sportswear retailers.

Although several iterations have surfaced for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the original colorway features a “Black/Hyper Violet/White/Bright Mango” palette, which differs from the Chicago Bulls-friendly counterparts that have appeared on inaugural makeups of previous models. The story behind the vibrant color-blocking has not been revealed, but that is likely to change once the Jumpman family officially unveils the sneaker.

The composite mesh is laid out similarly to the Nike Kyrie 7, while the sole units offer the most visible and (likely) technological update from the Air Jordan 35: a curved accent culminates in the center of the midsole, which presumably employs an Eclipse Plate 3.0. Furthermore, the tread design (which still uses a herringbone pattern) has been slightly modified, revealing the use of a carbon fiber plate in the center for responsiveness and firmness.
