You Shouldn't Touch The Surgeon's Yeezy 700 Inspired By 'Donda'

Dominic "The Shoe Surgeon" Ciambrone, a renowned sneaker customizer, is cashing in on DONDA fever with a spiky pair of YEEZY 700s inspired by Kanye West's weapon-like, bear-fighting Balenciaga jacket, which he wore to the album's Atlanta listening party.

The 700s are studded with heavy silver spikes throughout the upper, latter, medial, and heel, and are completely black from head to toe (or rather, laces to outsole). To give more texture to the already extra shoe, tonal snakeskin-embossed paneling is used.

They're sneakers that scream "see but don't touch," much like their Balenciaga inspiration. It's a quote that perfectly encapsulates Ye's public character, which he's been developing for years.

Around the time he began declaring support for Donald Trump, whom he finally saw one-on-one at the White House, the rapper's abrasive demeanor became a hot topic of debate.

His seemingly never-ending string of headline-grabbing gaffes (the Twitter rants, his claim that slavery was a "choice," even that infamous VMAs moment) have turned him into something of an antihero, a pariah who, at the same time, is an icon to a legion of fans who see a bit of themselves in his troubled character — or simply enjoy being outspoken.

The cult of Kanye West, on the other hand, is unaffected by endless debate. Despite all of the heinous things he's done, he's managed to stay in the forefront of everyone's consciousness (and on the tip of everyone's tongue). Kanye West is invincible, to put it bluntly.

Though we doubt Ye wore the spiked Balenciaga jacket as an allegorical depiction of his public persona on purpose, it definitely makes for a fantastic narrative — and that's ultimately what he's all about.
