RBRSL'S Latest Collections Is A Must-Watch
RBRSL, an Italian footwear business that was founded in 2011 under the moniker RubberSoul, has been honing its craft in the shadows for quite some time. Recent price declines, on the other hand, have piqued our interest and solidified its status as a rising star. RBRSL makes shoes with lifespan in mind, upcycling abandoned materials and even integrating flora into its trademark soles, all with the goal of breaking established consumer culture standards.
While these continuous values drive each of the label's collections, its various inspirations provide diversity.
Color explosions and even seeds inserted in sole units create the ideal backdrop for fresh, whimsical styles. FW2021 22, on the other hand, assumes a much more solemn tone.
The same basic, high-quality leather uppers sit atop distinctive colored sole sections, but this time the creative approach is inspired by Edward Hopper's classic works. Hopper's paintings are defined by a deep sense of loneliness and sorrow, with protagonists seemingly contained in their own "bubble of light," a concept that has never felt more genuine than it does now. However, RBRSL's hopeful view on the zeitgeist is that we can relate to the world around us through art, and in that vein, RBRSL FW2021 22 tries to hold a mirror to our world and the events that are changing our lives.
The concept is beautifully translated into the actual offering. Bold, a classic sneaker that was modified last season, now gets a fresh design with a mid-collar construction. The redesigned ankle boot, which now has a stretch sock interior and a padded upper, is available in two winter-ready versions: waterproof nylon and vegan leather.

The RBRSL family is also expanded with the introduction of a new mid-cut, heavy-weave sock. Its sole unit, like Bold's, is constructed consisting of a transparent shell and a memory rebound midsole for maximum cushioning. Hopper's "bubble of light" is represented by the liquid-rubber sole created with Inkjet technology, begging us to never forget the frozen time we experienced over the last year or so.
RBRSL FW2021 22, in conclusion, caters to all ends of the spectrum. It's a well-rounded and flawlessly performed exhibition from the Italian label, with a conceptual base as powerful as the actual goods.
