Three Unexpected Facts About The Adidas OZWEEGO

Of course, as a sneakerhead, you're familiar with the Adidas OZWEEGO and its design. (If you don't already know, you will after reading this post.) But do you also know its background, distinguishing characteristics, and significance?

Here are 3 surprising facts about the Adidas OZWEEGO:

Fact 1: The Adidas Ozweego was launched in 1996 and disappeared again in 2000

The Ozweego, which was introduced in 1996 as a lightweight running shoe and already had the 'adiPRENE cushioning' incorporated into the forefoot, is seen here.

This will be used in the Ozweego 2, 3, and 4 versions. The top of the Ozweego 2 from 1997 was changed.

The most significant alteration, however, occurred with the Ozweego 3 in 1998, when the renowned torsion in the midsole was first noticed.

Fact 2: Today's adidas Ozweego is based on the 1998 Ozweego 3

The 1998 Ozweego 3 in the photo is clearly the direct descendant of today's model (today's models? see below).

The nearly disorganized sole, the 'adiPrene technology,' and the still-used mesh and suede materials have all made way into the current iteration.

Of course, the 2020 model is even more sophisticated, combining traditional components with current advancements in ergonomics and wearing comfort.

Fact 3: Raf Simons is considered the inventor of the 'chunky sneaker' or 'ugly sneaker' with his Ozweego 3 version

Raf Simons sparked the flame that will burn brightly in 2018. Raf Simons is credited with inventing the 'chunky' or 'ugly' shoe with the adidas Ozweego 3.

As a result, it's frequently linked to the Balenciaga Triple S and Yeezy 700, both of which were launched later yet are far more popular.

Since 2013, Raf Simons has been releasing new colorways and variants.
