Check Out The Nike Kyrie 8 N7's Official Images
Kyrie Irving has never shied away from speaking his mind and doing what he believes is right for him. While we admire anybody of Kyrie's caliber for standing up for what they believe is right, the Nets star's offseason in 2021 has definitely been difficult. Aside from his vaccine stance and the possibility of missing the entire 2021-2022 season, he sparked a firestorm of controversy and outrage when he publicly mocked his own impending signature sneaker, the Nike Kyrie 8. Kyrie dragged his own product, claiming he had no involvement with the design or promotion of his forthcoming shoe, only to make a PR-friendly follow-up statement days later.
Regardless of Kyrie's feelings regarding his shoes or vaccinations in general, it looks that Nike will release the Nike Kyrie 8 as planned. While a couple colors have previously surfaced, we're getting our first official glimpse at the model in the yearly N7 colorway today. This unique version commemorates the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and calls out the hoopster's Lakota name of Hela with a mainly monochromatic tan top with both leather and mesh-like uppers. The N7 emblem may also be found on the heel and insoles of the sneakers.
A closer examination of the outsole exposes a figure-8 cut-out at the heel, revealing the Zoom Air cushioning beneath. The improved traction features a similar layout to the Kyrie 7, with his emblem sitting exactly at the midfoot. The Nike Kyrie 8 inline colorway is currently set to debut on October 28th, although that date is likely to be pushed back.
The Kyrie 8 N7's release date has yet to be determined. Given the uproar surrounding Kyrie's anti-vaxx stance as well as his personal critiques of the sneakers, Nike may decide to unveil the Kyrie 8 secretly without any formal press releases.
