The First Down x Atmos x ASICS GEL-Lyte 3 Delves Into Two Cities' Subway Systems
The First Down x atmos x ASICS GEL-Lyte 3 is designed specifically for those who get lost in New York City or Tokyo. It's the duo's debut collaboration, and it draws influence from both megacities' underground metro systems.
While this design may appear odd, First Down was started in NYC in the 1980s, and atmos is one of the world's most recognized streetwear companies located in Japan, so this influence is much more evident than you may think. A complete leather structure graces each pair, with their individual maps stretched across the uppers, taking on the fan-favorite GEL-Lyte 3.
The classic ASICS tiger stripe runs along the lateral and medial side panels, and the GEL-Lyte 3 wouldn't be complete without the split tongue. Interestingly, the Japanese pair has an embroidered Tokyo Tower on the tongue, whereas we can't see what's on the American version, although it's likely to be the Empire State Building or maybe Lady Liberty herself.
We wouldn't be shocked if the First Down x atmos x ASICS GEL-Lyte III appeared shortly after being teased by atmos Creative Director Hirofumi Kojima.
